iPad Drawing (2023)
A cat sits on the Old City steps, enjoying the morning sun and greeting world travelers. After a meal at a restaurant in Baku, we were given a plastic bag for our leftovers, saying “Thank you for your business” in Russian. “Thank you” was one of the few words I recognized. Sufficient enough to remind me that upon returning home, amidst the bleak winter in Virginia, during weeks of solitude in my apartment, I should recollect gratitude.
